شناخت[۱] کُد (یا رمزینه­ ی) ژنتیک

هَمه­ ی[۲] شکل ‌هایِ شناخته شُده­ ی آنچه بر رویِ زمین زندگی[۳]‌ نامیده می‌‌ شود[۴] کُدِ ژنتیکی[۵] را یعنی‌ الفبایِ[۶] چهار حرفی[۷] دی.اِن.اِی  DNA را که با بکارگیری[۸] آر‌اِن‌اِی  RNA پروتئین می ‌‌سازند[۹] سهیم هستند[۱۰].

امروزه با بکارگیریِ ابزار نوین و مدرن دانشمندان قادر هستند[۱۱] که طرحِ ویژه و مشخصِ دی.اِن.اِی  DNA هَر فردی را از چند سلولِ آن فرد تمیز داده و شناسایی کنند[۱۲]. “انگشت­ نگاریِ ژنتیکی[۱۳]” با استفاده از چند سلولِ آدمی‌ شیوه­ ی شناسایی افراد شده است[۱۴].

همه­ ی افراد بشر[۱۵] چیدمانِ ژنتیکِ یکسانی[۱۶] را بر رویِ ۲۳ جفتِ کروموزوم خود دارند[۱۷]. اما در میان بیش از ۳ میلیارد جفت­پایه‌ هایِ[۱۸] خود تفاوت‌ هایی‌ موجود است که تقریبا در هر چند صد جفت مشهودند[۱۹]. اگرچه برخی‌ از آن تفاوت‌ ها عمده­ اند[۲۰] و دلیلِ بیماری‌ های موروثی هستند[۲۱] اما اکثرِ تغییرات در بینِ آحاد بشر یکسان ­اند.[۲۲]

امروزه “انگشت­ نگاریِ ژنتیکی[۲۳]” در بسیاری مواردِ قانونی[۲۴] بکار گرفته می ‌‌شود[۲۵].

تواناییِ‌ ما برای تحلیل، دست­ یازی و دستکاریِ میزانِ بسیار کوچکی از دی.اِن.اِی  DNA بر اساسِ فرآیندی ساده و روشی‌ ظریف است که واکنشِ زنجیره ­ایِ پولیمریزی[۳۱] خوانده می ‌‌شود[۳۲] که مخففِ آن PCR است[۳۳]. واکنشِ زنجیره ­ایِ پولیمِرِیزی[۳۴] قطعه­ ی بسیار کوتاهی‌ از دی.اِن.اِی  DNA را هدف قرار داده و از آن قطعه­ ی مشخص رونوشت­ های (کپی‌) بی­ شماری برمی ­دارد[۳۵].

واکنشِ زنجیره ­ای پولیمِرِیزی[۴۷] یا  PCRمواردِ استفاده­ ی بی­ شماری دارد. بیشترین مواردِ بکارگیری این روش در پزشکی‌ قانونی و در مواردِ جنایی است که دی.اِن.اِی  DNA متهم با مدارک و آثارِ جرم مقایسه می ‌‌شود[۴۸]. در پژوهش ‌های پزشکی‌ هم واکنشِ زنجیره ­ای پولیمِرِیزی[۴۹] یا PCR ابزارِ بسیار قدرتمندی را برای زیست ­شناسان فراهم می‌‌ کند تا مختصاتِ ژنتیک را شناسایی کنند[۵۰].

روشِ واکنشِ زنجیره ­ای پولیمریزی[۵۱] یا  PCRبا مستندسازی ساختِ پروتئین‌ هایی‌ که کد می‌‌ کند نقشِ بسیار مهمی‌ را برای شناختِ چگونگیِ‌ کارکردِ ژن‌ ها بازی می ‌‌کند[۵۲].

با بکارگیریِ روش‌ هایِ علمی‌ و ابزار‌هایِ فنی[۶۴]، توانایی‌ دانشمندان علوم برای خواندنِ میراثِ ویژه­ ی ژنتیکِ هر فردی[۶۵] بعلاوه­ ی شناختِ رو به افزایش ما پیرامونِ کارکردِ ژن­ ها پرسش‌ هایی‌ اخلاقی‌ را نیز مطرح کرده است.[۶۶]

در بیشترِ موارد بدلیلِ مسایلِ منشی[۷۰] و اخلاقی مطالعاتِ ارتباط رفتاری و ژنتیک بر روی حیوانات انجام گرفته ­اند[۷۱].

مطالعات بر روی انسان‌ ها[۷۶] بسیار مشکل ­تر و متکی‌ بر سه فرضیه بوده است[۷۷].

دانشمندانِ علوم در موردِ مسایلِ منشی و اخلاقیِ‌ مطالعه ­ی ارتباطِ کردار‌ها[۸۵] و ساختِ ژنتیکِ بشر[۸۶] اتفاق ­نظر ندارند و اجماعی نیست.
